DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY WUKARI CLENCHES 5TH VICE CHANCELLOR'S CUP.
*Receives Resounding Accolades and Congratulations from Students' Union Government.
The department of Political Science, Federal University Wukari today 26th August 2022 sustained the entire university community in total gaiety at the grand finale of the 5th Vice Chancellor's Cup held at the ultramodern football field of the university.
The alluring match which featured the departments of Political Science and History and Diplomatic Studies tussling competitively to lift the biggest trophy on campus ended 1 nil against History and Diplomatic Studies, an outing described to be one of the most sensational on campus in recent times.
In his remarks, the indomitable president Students' Union Government, Federal University Wukari, Rt. Comr. Audu Buvini Samson congratulated the department of Political Science for the victory describing it as a veritable outcome of hardwork, consistency and determination.
The veteran unionist in a chat shortly after the game pinpointed the pivotal nature of sports to the university especially in its integrating role amongst student commending the dogged support of the university management in areas of sports and other extracurricular activities.
In the presentations of trophies and medals, the faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences came 1st and 2nd in the Basketball section with the faculty of Agriculture occupying the 3rd position.
Similarly,in the volleyball games, the faculty of Humanities, Management and Social Sciences came 1st with the faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences maintaining 2nd, and the faculty of Agriculture coming 3rd.
In the football category which also kickstarted on 12th August,2022, the department of Political Science came 1st clenching the football cup, with History and Diplomatic Studies maintaining 2nd, and Sociology department coming 3rd respectively.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Vice Chancellor, Federal University Wukari, Prof. Jude Sammani Rabo highlighted the significance of sports to the university community. He enumerated among the benefits; the integrating role,its ability to curtail social vices and discovery of hidden talents amongst others.
While eulogizing the university management for the upgrade in the status of sports on campus, the Dean of Students' Affairs, Prof. Cletus Sharmdama warmly congratulated all participants for exhibiting their best retierating that in every competition there is bound to be a winner and a looser, and therefore implored all students to accept the outcome of the competition in good faith stressing that alot of winning opportunities still lye in state as long as the university continues to prioritize sports.
The highest students body on campus acknowledged the dexterity of the winners which has made them champions and wishes them more long stretches of accomplishment in sports and other aspects.
